[2] Say Something
Barbra Kruger
In order to assist in making the action/idea in the image more clear, I intend to use short title made of a single infinite- to work, to distance, etc. Kruger’s work, when shown in the project slideshow, gave me this idea. In some ways, the use of words ensures the viewer is, at the very least, led to your conclusion.

[4] Trace
In the critique, the first sign that this project would not turn out the way I had wished started with people having trouble trying to grasp the idea I was trying to present: showing the traces of the actions of an unseen person in trying leaving a room. Everyone started with the idea of misplaced items, organization and returning them to their proper places, and finally arrived at the idea of...

[1] Say Something
For me, the computer (and technology in general) has been a wonderful addition to my life. With it, I am able to better explore what interests me, discuss with a wider and more diverse group of people instantly, easily find information I’m curious about, and even write this post without having to write it all out (especially since I write quite slowly anyways, *sigh*). I do wonder how my...
[2] Trace Inspration
- Francesca Woodman
Here, Woodman shows the basic idea of a visual trace, an outline of a body shape on the floor. The woman in the frame, her appearance and pose, gives the outline more importance as we ask whether she made the outline, or another, and what made it? Even the simplest marks on the world are a trace. (Oh, right, the Butterfly Effect feels oddly relevant.)

[1] A Trace
In the prompt, a quote mentions how “in a sense, all photographs are traces,” and this can be said of all art in general. The artist, in the hope of conveying an experience, an emotion, or simply an image, creates a trace of a physical location or object or of a mental image or thought. In doing so, they use a number of tools- brush and paint, film and paper, camera and computer-...
[4] In Limbo
During the critique, I felt there was a overwhelming misinterpretation of the term “energy”. I believe many of the students felt that the term meant visual or kinetic energy, the showing of movement or emotion in the image. As such, the only image of the set which students seemed to gravitate towards was “Fury Strike” as it was a blurred motion, mid-air capture of some of...

[1] In Limbo
So then, freshman year in high school, I take the two photography classes which were offered in the hopes of exploring my interest in the subject (as well as give hand-processing a try). During this time, I would occasionally go to a school event and take photos where I was found by the yearbook advisor who subsequently suggested (cohered) me into working on the yearbook my sophomore year as a...
[4] Emotive Color
For the critique, since we were to present the work of another person as if it was our own, I was afraid that the presenter of my work may misinterpret my photographs. When someone thinks about “calm” the quiet, still imagery of the night may not be their first thought. Likewise, these images could possibly be interpreted as “isolation” or “foreboding” given...
[2] In Limbo
Richard Bram http://www.in-public.com/RichardBram/image/2500 (Had the wrong link. >_<)
There are a few kinds of moments; the one Richard Bram captures in this is the “unexpected” moment. While the situation may occur with some frequency, when it exactly occurs is unknown and to capture it requires both timing and luck. Capturing one- especially given an interesting composition...
[2] Emotive Color
(Here’s to hoping that even a seemingly random photographer’s image nicked off the internet will work here as I’m not convinced that looking through the many photographers on the blog will get me very far quick, especially with my focus on night photography, so….) [1] Emotive Color
When I hear calm, I think two things: either a calm personality, or a tranquil scene.
In some capacity, these go hand in hand as people tend to be the calmest in a tranquil setting. For myself, my favorite time of day is night when the majority of the world has gone off to bed and the world outside their bedrooms is empty and deserted. Without people, nothing appears to be in motion, nothing...

[4] The Cutting Edge - Reflection
During the critique last class, I was quite happy that, for the most part, my intention going into the project was conveyed well. The other students were able to see- or perhaps the better word is realized- that while they may know the objects before them, they were viewing them from a position, with an intimacy they may have never even considered or sought for. While I was sure...

[1] The Cutting Edge - Ideas
My high school photography teacher said (something like) this to one of my classes one day:
‘So students, I also teach photography at the local community college and, when I send my students out to take pictures of the ducks in the lawn, they keep their distance. If they want a close up of the duck, they’ll just attach a telephoto lens and zoom in. However, give a group of children...
